Alexandria to Munich, web design to frontend architecture. Thirteen years of one job, really: making sure the thing in front of the user is fast, usable and still standing next quarter.
I'm Hesham Hassan. I've lived in Munich, Germany since 2016, originally from Alexandria, Egypt. I finished my bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems in 2011, took the nine-month ITI diploma to specialise in web design and development, and started my professional career in 2012.
Coming from design and UX means I rarely need a translator. It makes handover conversations short, and it's why I often end up sitting in the UX-engineer seat — close enough to the design team to catch problems while they're still cheap to fix.
I specialise in high-performance, accessible web applications. For the last five years that has largely meant Adobe Experience Manager, contributing to and leading the delivery of high-quality, genuinely usable components — the kind that get integrated into international brands: Henkel brands, Conrad DE, Siemens, Volvo, Kawasaki and more. Technically, my recent years have been React and Vue.js, building complex, data-driven UIs that hold up across devices — alongside playing team lead for a lot of very different teams.
I'm also unreasonably fond of CSS. That's what pushed me to publish a CSS Grid course on Udemy in 2022, taking people from zero to laying out real projects.
Across my career I've worked with a wide range of multinational clients, collaborating with cross-functional teams — designers, product managers, backend developers — with daily or weekly direct contact with the client side. That part matters as much as the code.
The short version
Principal-level frontend architect and team lead. I set the architecture for React, Next.js and Vue platforms on Adobe Experience Manager and Edge Delivery Services, lead the teams that ship them for Mercedes-AMG, Unilever and Kawasaki, and hold Core Web Vitals and WCAG AA as the definition of done, not the cleanup.
Published a CSS Grid course on Udemy — zero to mastery, ending in a real project layout.

Moved to Munich, Germany, and have been building from here ever since.
